Turning Partitions Indigenous

Bauhaus Open Studios India 20'

The greed for luxuries and the inclination towards superficiality in architecture doesn’t let us see simple things that can not only fulfil the need but also add to the aesthetic and appeal of a space. The native materials can be transformed into classic pieces of artwork which also serve a function. Here is one such exemplar that can adorn the interior/exterior spaces with its bright colours and humble design. This partition is purely inspired by the intricate patterns on the Rajasthani cane ‘mudda stool’ and duly makes use of its vibrant colour palette.

The inspiration of designing the partition comes from the traditional Mudda Stool of Rajasthan. Combining elements of cane sticks and vibrant colour palette, the design of the partition is simple and humble which would feel familiar to the rajasthani user’s choices.

The typical Mudda Stool of Rajasthan is built with Cane Sticks tied together with platic rope. The ropes also weave a pattern at the seat by making use of the vibrant colours from the Rajasthani Colour Palette.
